Natural rubber is characterised by high resistance to tearing and abrasion. The main advantage is the property of significant energy absorption. Rubber products are present in almost all areas of modern life, starting from car tires and ending with food and medical industry.
The main feature of the SBR elastomers is high abrasion resistance and good mechanical properties. SBR are also resistant to organic and inorganic acids, alkali, alcohols and water. They are mainly applied in the tire industry.
Copolymers / EPR / and ethylene-propylene / diene / terpolymers / EPDM / belong to an interesting family of elastomers, of which specific properties are: resistance to weathering, hot water and steam, acid and alkaline solutions, ketones, small-molecule esters, alcohols, soap solutions, detergents, flame-retardant hydraulic fluids, brake fluids. EPDM elastomers are characterised by very good dielectric properties.
Properly designed, polychloroprene-based products are characterised by high resistance to atmospheric agents and ozone. The presence of chlorine also provides some flame and oil resistance, as well as good resistance to many chemical factors. Also, these products are characterised by good mechanical and elastic properties, low friction and good stability in hot air.
Nitrile elastomers are based on polymers of butadiene and acrylonitrile. Products based on such elastomers are characterised by high resistance to fuel, aliphatic solvents, vegetable oils and fats, as well as mineral and synthetic oils. Moreover, nitrile rubbers provide vulcanisates with very good mechanical properties, low permanent deformation, low friction and low gas permeability. Such products can be operated in the temperature range from -50 to + 125°C.
Polyacrylic elastomers represent a class of polymers characterised by particularly high properties as follows: heat resistance – they can withstand the continuous use temperature up to 175°C and short-term up-to 200°C, high resistance to lubricating oils, good sealing properties, low permanent deformation even at high temperatures, good resistance to ozone, good electrical properties.
Introduced by Du Pont in 1975, this type of special elastomers combines interesting properties of resistance to high and low temperatures, oils and coolants, inorganic acids and alkali, as well as atmospheric agents.
Butyl rubber is particularly characterised by non-permeability of vapours and gases, good thermal stability, vibration damping, and good resistance to weathering.
The outstanding properties of silicone elastomers are the result of their particular chemical structure. They are unique in their kind, combining the properties of silica and mineral fillers, including those typical of organic composites. Silicone rubbers are resistant to ozone, weathering, and have very good dielectric properties.
Compounds based on hydrogenated nitrile rubbers allow to obtain vulcanisates of specific and interesting properties, such as very high mechanical characteristics, high tensile and tearing strength, very high abrasion resistance, high heat resistance / up to 150°C / and high elasticity at high temperatures, very good resistance to ozone and atmospheric factors, low permanent deformation, very good resistance to lubricating oils, especially modified with amine substances, particularly high resistance to cooling system fluids and lubricants.
Fluoride compounds exhibit particularly good resistance to high temperatures and permanent deformation (compression set). They are resistant to degradation in the presence of a considerable number of fluids and chemicals. They also offer the highest resistance to fluids as aliphatic and aromatic solvents. They exhibit particular resistance to oils, lubricants, and acids. Atmospheric oxidation, bad weather and ozone are not a problem for them. Our compounds can be operated in dynamic applications up to -20°C, and special formulations even up to -40ºC. They also guarantee low permeability of gases, oxidised liquids, and a wide range of chemicals.
Fluorosilicone elastomers expand the range of silicone rubber with excellent resistance to solvents and fuel, matching the properties of fluoroelastomers in this respect. Their high cost limits their use to the areas of highest demand, such as space technology.
